A jeep day along the Tatar Strait: two port towns — Nevelsk and Kholmsk — Lopatina and Slepikovsky lighthouses, Salyut waterfall, and a sea-lion rookery as a stop.
In Nevelsk — a Chinese dry-cargo ship washed ashore by a storm, and watching Steller sea lions. Animals are not promised: it depends on the day.
Then along the strait toward Kholmsk: Salyut waterfall (the climb is optional), the old Japanese paper mill, Lopatina lighthouse, and Cape Slepikovsky with its lighthouse — the highlight. Back over the Kholmsk pass.
The fare includes transfer from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and back, a comfortable off-road vehicle, and a snack: Sakhalin salmon sandwiches and tea with klopovka. A boat outing to the rookery is extra +$18.
