The Frog remnant near Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk is, in the operator’s text, about 70 million years old. It stands about 300 m high and is a popular place for walks and picnics. At the top there is a viewpoint over the hills and the sea.
The path goes through forest and mountain streams. By local lore, shamanic rites were held here, and people come to make a wish — that is lore, not a promise.
You may hear birds and come across chipmunks — a sighting is not guaranteed. The mountain’s image appears on souvenirs.
